Supernatural Christianity: Overcoming Evil with Good
In Romans 12:19–21, Paul brings his teaching on the transformed Christian life to its highest and most difficult point: how believers are to respond to their enemies. Christians are commanded never to take personal revenge, because vengeance belongs to God alone, whose justice is perfect and certain. Instead of retaliating, believers are called to actively show kindness to their enemies—feeding them, serving them, and responding with genuine love rooted in the mercy they themselves have received through Christ. Paul teaches that evil is not overcome by returning evil for evil, but by responding with goodness that reflects the character of God and the example of Jesus at the cross. This kind of life is not natural human behavior, but the supernatural work of the gospel transforming the believer from the inside out.
